Steven A. Block has practiced law as a civil litigator in Sacramento for nearly 40 years. He holds an AV peer rating from Martindale-Hubble and handles a wide variety of complex litigation, including catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, employment, products liability, residential and commercial real estate, construction defect, public entity liability, and physical and financial elder abuse. Mr. Block has served as lead counsel on numerous jury trials, and has argued before the California Courts of Appeal and the California Supreme Court.
Mr. Block is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is a Master of the Bench in the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court. He has served as a visiting lecturer at Stanford University School of Law, the University of San Francisco Law School, and McGeorge School of Law. He received a bachelor’s degree from U.C. Davis in 1975, obtained his J.D. Degree With Distinction from McGeorge School of Law in 1978, and was recognized for outstanding scholastic performance in law school by the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society.
Mr. Block is admitted to practice in all the courts of the State of California, the United States District Court, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, and as counsel pro hac vice in Oregon and the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Block is an Eagle Scout, was honorably discharged from the United States Naval Air Reserve in 1977, and has served on a number of boards, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the McGeorge School of Law Alumni Board, and the National Commission for the Next Level of Excellence, University of the Pacific.
Mr. Block was born in Oakland, California, has been married since 1975, and has four sons.
